My Inner Mentor

This year I am planning to share more of the ways that I am supporting myself. I want to help and inspire other mothers to take care of themselves, so that they can then take care of their neurodivergent children with a full and open heart, and all the energy, patience, joy and love they need.
This month I have been listening to “Playing Big” by Tara Mohr on Audible and watching the morning Instagram Lives sessions with Breathpod, which have had the focus of “Future You” this month. You can watch these again if you are interested in finding out more. They are brilliant and I highly recommend them. As for Tara Mohr’s book, it’s an absolute game changer. I will definitely be listening to it again and I have ordered a copy of the book, so I can highlight parts I particularly love and need, work through all the amazing journal prompts and keep it close to hand all year long!
The biggest take away from both the meditations on the Breathpod Lives and “Playing Big”, is the sense of my inner mentor and my future self. Using meditations in both the book and the Instagram Lives, I now have a really clear vision of future me and she’s so very helpful, not only in thinking about longer term plans and decisions but throughout my day. She helps me to show up right now as she is showing up in my meditations. She helps me to make small decisions as I go about my day and she helps me say yes and no at the right times.
I have done similar practices before but the combination of this book and the daily breath work and meditation this month has deeply impacted me and I know this practice of checking in with the future version of me, my inner mentor, is going to be a consistent part of my life.
As a mother and a wife I am juggling a lot of additional needs and providing a lot of support. I often feel a little bit lost and sad because where is the support for me? Well here she is! My inner mentor is here and it feels so good. I feel like I have a team mate and together we’ll create the best version of me, so I can live my best life!
If you have read or listening to Playing Big I would love to hear what you think and if you also do the Breathpod Lives please let me know because I love the connection we all have in the mornings. xo
