How To Start Your Month Well

As a mother of children with additional needs I very often feel pulled in all directions and like my days and weeks, and sometimes months, can speed by without a moment to think about what I am doing in all of this. Starting each month with an intention setting ceremony really helps to ground me into the new month, to give myself time to think about how I am feeling, how I want to feel in this new month and what I would like to achieve.
I light a candle, put on some music and meditate for a while before writing a short letter to the new month. I then create a flat lay to photograph is and share it on Instagram. This helps to make it feel special, as I take time to style the letter with the candle, flowers and crystals. The sharing of it inspires others to think about their month and helps to keep me accountable to all I have written.
I then think about the month that has gone by and what went well, what didn’t go so well and what I would like to improve this month.
Finally, I write a list of all that I would like to do this month. I have started to break this down into 8 categories; Read, Learn, Home, Create, Service/Work, Rest, Connection and Family. I am writing down what I want to do in each category and then I am scheduling that into my diary. I am excited to see if this helps me to have my best year yet!
I hope this inspires you to start your month well and to create space for what you need, so that you can support those who need you with more energy, love and joy. xo
