Why I Photograph The Blossom Every Spring

I love all the seasons but there is no doubt that Spring is my absolute favourite. I find the light and colours so inspiring. I feel so much peace in the season and always have so much creative energy. I feel that I completely belong in Spring.

More than in any other season I feel like I am experiencing Spring for the first time each year. I feel that I see more and sense more with every Spring that passes. Every year for years and years (even before Instagram!) I have been drawn to photographing the blossom. Sometimes I laugh to myself because I have so many photographs of blossom and yet each year there I am again photographing the blossom. I spend more time than usual looking at the weather forecast and working out how to get out in the Spring sunshine as much as possible to capture this magical season full of blossom. I choose running routes that mean I can stop to take a photograph or two along the way and whenever possible I do my daily meditation close to the blossom too.

Blossom is extra special because it doesn’t last for long and I think that is why I make the absolute most of standing under the trees while it’s around.

I love how the blossom tree is incredible as a whole but also how precious and wonderful each individual blossom bud is too. I can lose myself in one tree for hours!

We have some early blossom here in London, which is a special treat but there is so much more to come. Even if taking photos isn’t your thing, take some time to stand beneath a blossom tree this Spring and look at all the wonderful details and breathe it all in. xo
